How we work
Te Hā – Waitaha offers free stop smoking support to anyone in Canterbury.
We work with you and your whānau to find ways that can make quitting easier.
If you are Māori, Pacific, pregnant or living with a pregnant woman, there is specific support suitable for you.
Once you or your whānau register for support, a Stop Smoking Practitioner will contact you to discuss how we can help. We will work with you to set a quit date, and provide ongoing support so you can stay Smokefree.
Stop Smoking Practitioners are based across Canterbury. We currently have people based at He Waka Tapu (Wainoni), Te Puawaitanga (Hornby), Purapura Whetu (central city) and Etu Pasifika (central city). We also have mobile practitioners in a range of other urban and rural locations that can travel to you.
After an initial face-to-face meeting, you can tailor a stop smoking programme that works for you – it could include more face-to-face meetings, texting, videoing, skyping, emails, or attending group sessions.
As well as customised support, you’ll also be able to access free Nicotine Replacement Therapy – patches, gum and lozenges.
If you or someone you know would like help to quit, register here online or phone 0800 425 700 / email directly: firstname.lastname@example.org
